Enlisted in the Lord’s Army

Good morning brethren, I like to write on a topic “Enlisted in the Lord’s Army.” Let me start by reminding us that as believers in Christ, we are not only children of God but also soldiers in His spiritual army. We are called to stand firm against evil, fight the good fight of faith, and live with discipline and purpose. This is not a battle against people but against the spiritual forces of darkness. Our victory is in Christ, and our power is from God Himself. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 says “Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.” Jesus Christ the Commander in Chief enlisted us , He enlisted us at salvation, we were called to serve, obey, and follow His commands. Therefore our goal is not to be comfortable, but to be committed. We are to dress in the full armour of God “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:10-11). This armour is spiritual, to protect, defend, and fight.

As believers, we are to wear the armour daily by walking in truth, righteousness, faith, and Scripture. The battle we engage in is spiritual, not physical and our enemy is Satan, sin, and deception and not people. 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 says “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” Hence we are to fight through prayer, truth, love, and the power of God. As dedicated army of the Lord, we are to endure hardships as faithful soldiers. Hardship is part of the training of a dedicated soldier, a good soldier does not give up under pressure or trial and of course there is an eternal reward for those who endure. James 1:12 says “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” The Lord’s army has a mission and that mission is global. Matthew 28:19-20 says “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” We are called to spread the Gospel, make disciples, and reflect Christ’s love and authority. Perhaps, I should plead with you to reflect on this question “are you living to please your Commander (Jesus Christ), or are you distracted by civilian affairs?

In conclusion, believers are encouraged to remain faithful, obedient, and active because victory has already been won by Jesus. Romans 8:37 says “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Please know this and be encouraged that every soldier of Christ will be rewarded in glory.  May the Lord, make us faithful soldiers in His army. May He strengthen us with His Spirit, equip us with His armour, so we can truly fight the good fight of faith in Jesus name. Service is for 10.30am and workers meeting is for 10am. God’s blessings - Mike
