Silence Part 2
Good morning brethren, I would like to share on the topic “SILENCE PART 2.” In part one I had written that this topic was sensitive. For understanding purposes silence is defined as the absence of sound, speech, or noise. It may also refer to physical quietness or an inner stillness of the mind and heart. It must be understood that silence is not weakness. Scripture often expresses silence as a position of strength, wisdom, and divine alignment, however in a noisy world, silence can be a weapon for dominion, discernment, and peace. Ecclesiastes 3:7 says “A time to keep silence, and a time to speak.” There is need to reflect on the time and occasion to use silence so you can achieve victory in life battles. There are three main occasion where silence was used - silence as a spiritual weapon, silence as a physical weapon and silence as an emotional weapon. How is silence used as spiritual weapon? Exodus 14:14 says “The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” This is when Israel faced Pharaoh’s army, God instructed them to be still. That stillness gave room for God’s power to manifest. The stillness was a declaration of trust in God and not fear, this is divine strength. Habakkuk 2:20 says“But the LORD is in His holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before Him.” Silence here is said to be a sign of discernment, in silence, we tune in to God’s voice and spiritual clarity could come when the noise stops. May you not miss your divine instruction because of noise in Jesus name. Silence can be used as warfare, for example when Joshua commanded the Israelites to stay silent for six days while marching around Jericho (Joshua 6:10) Their silence was obedience, it confused the enemy and prepared the ground for victory.
We also read how Jesus before His accusers used this powerful tool of silence,— “He was oppressed… yet He opened not His mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7 / Matthew 27:12-14). Jesus’ silence before Pilate wasn’t defeat but it was divine control, silence can disarm accusations and expose truth. The other part is in using silence as physical weapon, in Proverbs 17:27-28 we understand how silence can preserve energy as constant speaking could drains physical and mental energy. Silence also commands authority (Mark 4:39), note that even creation responds to silence, Jesus’ authority was expressed in calmness, not chaos. Another part of using silence is as emotional weapon, and this helps disarm conflict, also it prevents escalation and maintains dignity. Silence brings inner healing giving the soul rest from emotional noise (Psalms 62:1). Silence can help protect us from sin James 1:19 says “Be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” Often emotional wounds come from words spoken too quickly. Silence creates a sacred pause for grace. The how to use silence as weapon includes use silence worship and meditation as shield against confusion and fear, using silence during delays strengthens faith and patience, in conflict use the tool of silence and it will expose foolishness. Perhaps I should add listening more and talk less.
In conclusion silence is not emptiness but a strategic stillness. It is not passive but it is power under control. Service is for 10.30am and workers meeting is for 10am. God’s blessings - Mike
