Staying positive and getting rid of negativity
Good morning brethren, I like to write on a topic “Staying positive and getting rid of negativity.” Our anchor Scripture are Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” and Philippians 4:8 says “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Staying positive starts first in the mind, hence Romans 12:2 tells us to renew our thinking daily through God’s Word. Negative thoughts will often lead to fear, anger, or even despair, hence Apostle Paul admonishes us in Philippians 4:8 to focus on what is true lovely and good, to be able to invite peace and faith. Staying positive does not mean denying you may be in pain, it means believing God can turn it for good. Negativity can often comes when we feel ignorant and don’t understand what’s happening around us. But faith means trusting that God is working even in the areas we have no understanding of. Psalm 42:5 says “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Put your hope in God.” King David spoke to himself with faith, choosing to trust God rather than his circumstances as he faced negativity and fear when enemies surrounded him. Another example of one who did not let his circumstances to affect his positivity was Joseph, he was betrayed, enslaved, and imprisoned, yet he stayed faithful. And in the end, he told his brothers
“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” (Genesis 50:20). Joseph’s positive, God-centered outlook turned his pain into purpose which is a proof that God has a better plan for you, not withstanding your time of troubles just trust in Him. Another point to consider in staying positive is to discipline yourself with what you say, Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” And Ephesians 4:29 says “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building up.” Our words often will shape our outlook and negative words can bring fear and doubt. As believers we are to speak God’s promises to grow our faith and so negativity can loss its power in our lives. Another point is to stay and surround ourselves with God’s presence Psalm 16:11 says “In your presence there is fullness of joy.” And James 4:8 says “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” We read in Acts 16:25 the story of Paul and Silas, they were imprisoned, yet they prayed and sang hymns at midnight. Their positivity in adversity brought a miracle and salvation to others. As believers we are called to worship, prayer, and fellowship as these will help drive out negativity. If you stay close to God, His joy and peace will overflow into your spirit. Also it is important to note that anxiety is an enemy to positivity hence you must cast it away and replace It with prayer. Philippians 4:6–7 says “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” We read how Hannah wept in distress over her barrenness, but after praying to God, her face was “no longer sad” (1 Samuel 1:18). That is because prayer turned her sorrow into peace, even before her situation changed. Negativity often stems from worry, hence we are to give our burdens to God and He will gives us peace that surpasses understanding.
In conclusion, staying positive is not pretending everything is fine but believing God is still in control, no matter what happens. Service is for 10.30am and workers meeting is for 10am. God’s blessings - Mike
