Strength during trials

Good morning brethren, today, I would like to write on the topic: “Strength during trials.” For clarity, trials are a part of every believer’s journey. They may come in the form of sickness, financial hardship, disappointment, persecution, loss, or even unanswered prayers. Believers were never promised a life without challenges. However, God has promised His presence, His strength, and victory through every trial. His strength enables us not only to endure difficult seasons but also to grow spiritually through them. To be direct, trials are an inevitable part of the Christian life. In John 16:33, Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Here, Jesus warned His followers that difficult times would come, but He also assured them of His victory. Similarly, James 1:2–4 says, “Consider it pure joy… whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” The apostles taught that trials refine our faith rather than destroy it. Therefore, trials are not always signs of God’s absence; they are often opportunities for spiritual growth, maturity, and deeper dependence on Him. As human beings, our strength is limited, but God’s strength has no limits. 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”

When we acknowledge our weakness, we make room for God’s power to work in our lives. We are called to depend on God rather than our own abilities, to pray instead of panic, and to trust instead of fear. We can also be assured of God’s constant presence. He has promised never to leave His children. Isaiah 43:2 declares, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you…” Likewise, Hebrews 13:5 assures us, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Whatever the circumstance, God walks with His children through every storm. Furthermore, God often uses hardships to shape a believer’s character. Romans 5:3–5 tells us, “We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Trials strengthen our faith, prepare us for greater responsibilities, and deepen our dependence on God. The Bible provides several examples of believers who found strength during trials: For example, Job remained faithful despite losing his children, wealth, and health. He declared, “Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him” (Job 13:15). Joseph endured betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment before becoming a ruler in Egypt. Instead of seeking revenge, he told his brothers, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good” (Genesis 50:20). The Apostle Paul faced imprisonment, persecution, and countless hardships, yet remained steadfast. He confidently declared, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13), reminding us that Christ provides strength for every challenge. Above all, Jesus Christ, our perfect example, endured rejection, suffering, and the cross while remaining obedient to the Father. Hebrews 12:2 says, ”…who for the joy set before Him endured the cross…” His endurance secured eternal victory for all who believe. Knowing that trials are part of the believer’s life, how can we receive strength during them? Pray continually, trust in God’s promises, remain rooted in God’s Word, wait patiently on the Lord, continue to worship God, even in difficult seasons. There are also some practical lessons we should remember. Our greatest testimony often comes from your greatest test, God’s grace is always greater than our struggles, true strength grows through complete dependence on God and every trial has an expiration date.In conclusion, God uses our sufferings to refine our faith, build our character, and reveal His glory. Trials may shake us, but they do not have to break us.

As believers, we can face every trial with confidence, knowing that the God who began a good work in us is faithful to complete it. May the declaration of the Psalmist in Psalm 28:7 be ours: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.” Few prayer Points: Father, strengthen me to endure every trial without losing my faith. Help me to remain steadfast until Your purpose is fulfilled in my life, in Jesus name, Father, remind me daily that You are always with me. Let me never feel abandoned during difficult times, in Jesus name. Father, when I am weak, let Your grace sustain me, and let Your power be made perfect in my weakness, in Jesus’ name.
