Biblical Fools
Good morning brethren, I like to write on a sensitive topic “Biblical fools.” Who does the bible refers to as fools ? Before answering that question let me first touch on the scripture were Jesus warns against calling someone a fool “ …… and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire” (Matthew 5:22). This warning addresses the attitude that belittles or devalues others, therefore if you ever address somebody as a fool, it means you have attacked the person’s character and integrity, especially seeing the person as worthless. The warning Jesus gave on not to call anyone a fool recognises and honour the worth of everyone, because we are all created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). Hence, we are encouraged to examine our hearts, control our tongues, and pursue peace with everyone so that we can prove to the world that we are the children of God. That being said it is important to note that the bible addresses a fool to be associated with wickedness and denial of the existence of God “Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.”They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!” (Psalms 14:1). Therefore a fool is anyone who disregards God counsel, warnings and commands because he or she lacks wisdom, has no concern for others, does not desire to avoid sin, and boost about their sinful ways (Proverbs 28:26). It is often evident on a person who disregards God's Word, to become unwise, and obviously makes foolish decisions.
Scriptures describes a foolish person to be one who misuses the intelligence God gave him or her, therefore foolishness is denying God’s existence or to say no to God. Proverbs 24:9 says “The schemes of a fool are sinful; everyone detests a mocker.” An evidence that a person has a sinful nature is in his foolishness. There are some characteristics or marks that are notable in the life of a biblical fool. They deny the existence of God and hence don’t believe, Psalms 53:1 says the fool has said in his heart there is no God.” They have loose tongues (cannot control their tongues), they love to talk but hate to listen hence Proverbs 18:2 says “A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.” They are often driven by their passions Proverbs 20:3 says “It is an honour for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling.” They dont accept correction, Proverbs 12:5 says “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.” They seems to lack sense or are ignorant of it Ecclesiastical 10:3 says “even when the fool walks on the road, he lacks sense, and he says to everyone that he is a fool;” and Proverbs 10:23 says “doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding. They have no purpose for life and are unfocused, Ecclesiastical 4:5 says “the fool folds his hands and eats his own flesh.” Their ways are shameful to their parents Proverbs 17:15 says “a foolish son is a grief to his father and bitterness to her who bore him.” The stubbornness and willful ignorance of a fool makes it difficult to deal with them hence Proverbs 14:7 says “leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge.” They have no heart of learning, Proverbs 17:16 says “It is senseless to pay to educate a fool, since he has no heart for learning.” They don't fear the Lord and don't learn from their mistakes and they start fights, they are easily upset, and believe everything they read. Lastly, their end is disgrace, Proverbs 3:35 says “the wise will inherit honour, but fools get disgrace.”
In conclusion the ways to deal with biblical fools is to leave them and stay in the part of righteousness. Service is for 10.30am and workers meeting is for 10am. God’s blessings - Mike
