The Secret to Grow your Faith (Part 1)

I like to write on a topic “The secret to grow your faith.” What does faith means? It is trust, assurance, and belief in God, knowing all things come from Him (Hebrew 11:1), faith is a gift from God and it is also something that we must actively cultivate. According to Romans 12:3 Apostle Paul said God has assigned a measure of faith to everyone to use for Him. Faith is the first gift a believer receives (for justification), when a person is born again, God gives him or her gifts as a new member of the family of God. We receive the gifts according to the measure that God has given us, and we exercise the gifts according to the same measure of faith. Apostle Paul also said in Ephesians 4:7 “To each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it”. God distributes each gift according to the measure of faith that He has bestowed on us. Therefore you must first understand that faith is a seed which every believer should plant in their heart and mind and at the appointed time, God will give you a harvest of what you need just when you need it.

Apostle Paul again said in Colossians 2:7 “Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” A man of God analysed faith with a seed of corn - “first, the blade, then the ear, then the full corn in the ear. Faith must grow by soil, moisture, and exercise.” This understanding is needed for a believer to possess great faith. We must feed our faith though the Word of God? A Pastor once said “Faith begins where the will of God is known.” The will of God can only be known through reading the Word of God, do what it says and you will grow. Psalm 34:8 NIV transactions says “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” But the MSG transactions of Psalm 34:8 says “Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—how good God is.  Blessed are you who run to him.” Also king David said in Psalm 119:103  “Your words are so choice, so tasty; I prefer them to the best home cooking.  With your instruction, I understand life.” (MSG translation). By feeding on God’s word you may never have to worry about what to do. The Word of God is like food that nourishes our souls and with faith you can activates the Word of God.

In conclusion, please pray for increase of faith throughout this week as we remember the biblical verse on Mark 9:24 “Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, ‘I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!’” And pray for strength to overcome that doubt and unbelief, James 1:6 says “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” May the Lord truly help our unbelief and doubt in Jesus name! Amen. Service is for 10.30am and workers meeting is for 10am. God’s blessings - Mike
