Renewal of your Faith

Good morning brethren, I like to write on a topic “Renewal Of Your Faith”. As today is the first Sunday of the year 2025, I think it will be necessary to look at the way to keep our faith in Christ active and renewed. By way of refreshing our mind, faith is said to be “… the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1). Simply put, faith means believing that something is true, and then committing your life to it. In other words faith means believing in God, and in what Christ has done for us to make our salvation possible and then committing ourselves to Him. The example of faith definition is found in Matthew 9:27-30 where two blind men came to Jesus and asked Him to heal them. “….And Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?” “Yes, Lord,” they told Him, “we do.” Then He touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.” Then their eyes were opened, and they could see! …”. Their faith and assurance that Jesus could give them sight was the substance or reality they hoped for. It also gave them the evidence or trust that they would receive what they asked for. They believed, in other words, they had faith in advance that it would be done.

Please note that renewing one’s faith is a lifelong process that should be practiced,  It should not be a one off event, but rather a continuous or an ongoing part of a believer spiritual life. Romans 12:2 says “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Some few steps to renew our faith in Christ will include to make your prayer and quiet time with God a priority. Matthew 26:41 says “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation ….” Study the Word of God daily, 2 Timothy 2:15 says “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” As a believer endeavour to surround yourself with people who have hope and faith in Christ. Hebrews 10:25 says “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Make true repentance a part of your renewal process (1 John 1:9-10). Make worship a part of your renewal process Psalm 150:6 say “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord". Fasting is also a good practice for our renewal process Matthew 6:16-18 says “But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Thanksgiving as it should be unto the Lord, should be practiced as a spiritual renewal.1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 says “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

In conclusion, please and please observe self-reflection as part of your spiritual renewal process, this practice will help you stay focus on your position with God. Psalm 139:23-24 says “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life".
