A New You

Good morning brethren, I like to write on a topic “A New You”. I thought of writing about Christmas since today is the last Sunday before Christmas. But I am pressed to believe that God wants to speak or challenge someone to review their current state so they can prepare themselves for change. This changes will possibly radiate a new version of you that is receptive, open or responsive to God. God is always looking for those to use, Jesus in John 7: 37-38 says “On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to Me! Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” Please note that God desires for us to be better and forgive me but this isn’t far from the truth that nothing remains the same.  Human beings included, we are either growing or dying and it is for this reason we should accept God’s invitation to revive our lives. Permit me to share in the story of King Saul and David (king Saul’s armour-bearer), in 1 Samuel 17, Saul seems to be unfamiliar with David as he asked questions about the identity of David, who he is, even though he was the armour-bearer and played harp to give the king relief from the evil spirit that tormented him. David had been employed to play the harp for Saul. The king knew David’s name and had been told who his father was

(1 Samuel 16: 14-23). No matter what is attributed to the reason King Saul did not recognise David, but one thing is sure  - there is room for promotion, improvement, another level and God is calling for a new you. 2 Timothy 2:19 says “….. The Lord knows those who are His,” Just as king Saul did not recognise David for his new version - from harp player (musician) to a warrior. I am trusting on God’s touch of anointing that before the end of this year - your family, colleagues, friends, neighbours even your enemies will begin to see a new version of you in Jesus name!

Elisha was known as the servant boy, in fact he was considered to have wasted his time and years of dedicated service to his master Elijah - by the sons of the prophets. But after he received the mantle, they honoured and bowed to him.  “When the group of prophets from Jericho saw from a distance what happened, they exclaimed, “Elijah’s spirit rests upon Elisha!” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him”. (2 Kings 2:15). There is a new you emerging but there are somethings you must do, 2 Timothy 2: 21 says “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.” Our Christmas Service is for 12noon, workers meeting is for 11:30am. God’s blessings - Mike
